Practical information for Côte d’Azur courses

The camp takes place at the Centre International de Valbonne (known locally as CIV), a large campus in a forest setting. It is just a few kilometres from Antibes, Mougins and Cannes and easily accessible from Nice.

Arrival and transport information

Students should arrive at Centre International de Valbonne on the Sunday by 10.30.

By car

From the autoroute follow signs for Sophia Antipolis, then Les Bouillides  direction le Haut Sartoux.  Keep following signs for Accès 7.  Once you have taken Accès 7, keep in the right hand lane and turn right onto Place Belmond beyond which is the entrance barrier to the CIV.  Summer school staff will be present at the barrier on the first morning to sign in your child.

Air

Nice International Airport is about 20 kms away.

Train

The nearest SNCF train station is Antibes.

Transfers

Transfers can be organised for unaccompanied residential students arriving at Nice airport or Antibes train station. The airport transfer has a small fee of 10€ each way. Transfers from Antibes station are free. Transfers need to be arranged in advance.

Day students

After the first day students should arrive for rehearsals at 9.30, though may be dropped off from 08.30 onwards.  Day students should be collected from the entrance barrier at 18.30 each evening, 18.00 for the Toussaint (October half term) course.

Day-students should bring a packed lunch and water bottle each day, although snacks will be provided during rehearsal breaks.

A typical day

There will be two workshops in the morning session, followed by lunch. In the afternoon there will be activities and the chance to use the  on-site swimming pool (overseen by a lifeguard) and then two further rehearsals.

Students can either leave with parents after the show on Friday, or if staying Friday night by 10.30 on Saturday.

The price quoted includes six nights accommodation, from Sunday night to Saturday morning. An extra night’s accommodation can be arranged for a supplement of 40€.

Accommodation and meals

Residential students will stay at the Centre International de Valbonne (CIV) in single or twin student rooms. Breakfast and evening meals are taken in the on-site canteen.  A lunchtime picnic is provided for residential students which is eaten in the adjacent park.

The performance

The performance, open to the public, is presented at 18.30 on the Friday evening.  It is held in the Cinema in the basement of the AGORA building on-site at the CIV.   The performance is free entry and open to all.  There are no tickets.   The show will last approximately one hour.  Information on what students need to wear for the performance will be circulated with the ‘What to Bring’ list ahead of the course.
